For new managers

For new managers who replay every 1:1 on the way home.

Write down what happened in the meeting and what you decided it says about you. Pausa keeps the two apart, and shows you which one keeps winning.

A Pausa recap surfacing the loop from the last few weeks

The meeting ended an hour ago and you're still in it. What you said, how it landed, what they probably think of you now. By dinner the story has a verdict: maybe you got promoted too early.

The facts rarely say that. A deadline slipped. Someone disagreed with you, which is part of what a team does. The verdict is something you added, and you add it after almost every hard conversation.

Pausa is built to catch that. After a hard 1:1, write or talk for three minutes. Over a few weeks it starts showing you what happened next to what you concluded, and how often the conclusion is about you when the facts are about the work.

What that looks like

Your entry, Tuesday
1:1 with Dana went badly again. She pushed back on the timeline and I froze. I don't think the team respects me. Maybe I got promoted too early.
Pausa, a few weeks of entries later
This is the third entry since September that ends with “maybe I got promoted too early.” In all three, what actually happened was a disagreement about a deadline. You keep turning a scheduling problem into a verdict on yourself.

An illustration. Pausa only works from what you write, so it gets sharper the more you do.

How it works

  1. 01

    Get it out

Right after the meeting, while it's still loud. Three minutes of talking, parked before you drive home, counts.

  2. 02

    It reads across weeks

One entry is just a bad day, but the same ending six times is a pattern. Pausa reads all of them, not just today's.

  3. 03

    It says what it sees

Plainly, in a sentence or two. No streaks, no scores, and no pep talk when your own words say otherwise.

We'd rather lose you as a user than waste your time.

Next hard 1:1, write it down before the story sets.
